compliance program related to federal and state laws and
regulations as well as internal policies. Identifies high-risk
areas of the university and provides guidance, support, and
coordination across the institution as it relates to compliance
efforts. Assesses university-wide performance in high-risk
compliance areas, reporting to the President and the Audit and
Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees on the university's
compliance initiatives and activities.Job Category:ExemptHiring

Grant Funding?NoEssential Job Functions:1. Plans, directs,
supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and
staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating, all
in accordance with University policies and procedures.
2. Provides leadership and coordination in the maintenance of the
university-wide Compliance Plan and Employee Code of Conduct.
3. Collaborates closely with individual university units and their
designated Responsible Functional Compliance Officers (RFOs) to
support and enhance existing compliance efforts. Assists in the
development and implementation of standardized policies and
procedures, facilitating compliance reporting, coordinating
training initiatives, conducting assessments to evaluate compliance
effectiveness, and partnering with relevant stakeholders to
identify and implement corrective actions when necessary.
4. Oversees a university hotline compliance reporting mechanism to
provide employees with an anonymous method for reporting good faith
concerns that may involve improper conduct including violations of
law or university policies and procedures.
5. Assists in proactively identifying new, evolving, or previously
overlooked areas of compliance risk and ensures they are
appropriately assessed, prioritized, and addressed through
effective policies, monitoring, or training initiatives.
6. Fosters campus-wide awareness of compliance and provides tools
and support to evaluate legal obligations, risk considerations, and
best practices.
7. Ensures the integrity of the University Compliance Program by
upholding impartiality and independence in all compliance
activities. Remains free from involvement in the operations or
decision-making of the units, allowing for unbiased judgment and
objective review of compliance matters.
8. Chairs the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) committee and works
closely with Internal Audit (IA) and RFOs to strengthen compliance
testing, training, tracking, and reporting.
9. Provides guidance to and coordinates designated compliance units
into a formal committee to facilitate resource-sharing, delivery of
education, and solutions to common issues.
10. Builds and maintains relationships with professional
organizations and peers at other institutions to stay informed on
compliance issues affecting higher education.
11. Establishes compliance performance metrics and dashboards to
assess training effectiveness, risk trends, and program
performance.
12. Leads periodic culture assessments to evaluate employee
perceptions of compliance.
13. Oversees the university's policy management process to ensure
alignment, timely review, and version control.
14. Ensures compliance with relevant regulations and updated
published guidance that are applicable to the University.
15. Implements interactive and scenario-based training programs to
engage staff and reinforce key compliance topics.
16. Establishes a coordinated regulatory change management process
that engages both central offices and RFOs to monitor, assess, and
implement responses to evolving federal and state compliance
requirements.
17. Collaborates with IT and legal departments to ensure robust
data privacy and cybersecurity policies, risk assessments, and
incident response protocols are implemented and reviewed
regularly.
18. Completes special projects as assigned.
19. Performs other duties as assigned or required.Required

equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils,
and computer keyboards.Required Education:Bachelor's DegreeRequired
Experience:Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in
compliance, risk management, and legal areas.Preferred
Qualifications:1. Experience in higher education / academic medical
center.
